'Political parties must be pressurised on their promises'
Highlighting initiatives like All India People's Manifesto programme, Amitabh Behar, Convener, Wada Na Todo Abhiyan emphasises the role of increased citizen participation in agenda setting. In an interview to Zee News, he questions the electoral promises made by various political parties.
In this video Amitabh Behar, Convener, Wada Na Todo Abhiyan, represents the All India People's Manifesto in a Zee News live commentary to critically evaluate political party's manifestos in the run up to general elections 2009.
"For the past five years we have been tracking the common minimum programme and not many of the promises have been fulfilled. But the Indian democracy is changing wherein the people can participate in the democratic process. Therefore we should take these promises seriously. We as citizens need to create pressure upon the government to fulfill these promises," he says.
