Bangladesh Stand Up Take Action 2009
The UN Millennium Campaign’s focus in Bangladesh is to Promote pro-poor budgeting and resource allocation to social sector, promote policy adjustment to ensure people’s participation in MDG monitoring and effective implementation of the MDGs and promote policies to support rural economy through support toward agriculture sector. Bangladesh has achieved gender parity in primary and secondary education since 2005 and is on track to achieving Millennium Development Goal (MDG) 1 and MDG 2. However in issues relating to MDG 4, 5 and 6 Bangladesh still faces many challenges.

Sheikh Hasina leads the nation
Marking the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty on October 17, Bangladesh Premiere Sheikh Hasina pledged to root out corruption from the country.
Addressing a rally in Dhaka organized as part of the UN Stand Up Campaign, she called upon all political parties to jointly fight corruption and stabilize democracy.
Rallies were organized in various parts of the country as part of Stand Up 2009.
Launch of Stand Up Take Action 2009
On October 2, 2009 INCIDIN Bangladesh in association with United Nations Millennium Campaign launched the Stand Up Take Action campaign at the Press Club in Dhaka.
The launch highlighted the issue of price rising and conditions of the labour force in the country. A demand was made for revising existing labour wages and thus securing their livelihood.
