Pakistan Stand Up Take Action 2009

Pakistan has made steady progress towards many MDG targets since 2000. However, significant resources and effort are needed to accelerate the implementation and delivery of development programmes on the ground. The United Nations Millenium campaign in Pakistan strives to strengthen people’s influence on elected officials and political leaders to enhance political will to accelerate MDG progress. The national campaign called Bas Bohot Ho Chuka or “Enough is Enough” was initiated by a network of civil society and grassroots organizations.

In Asia more than 100 million people mobilized (101,106,845) and from Pakistan 718,840 people participated in Stand Up Take Action End Poverty 2009.

GCAP Pakistan and AwazCDS organized rallies, press briefings, signature campaigns and a host of other activities across the country targeting diverse social groups to urge the government to take action.
