Millennium Campaign expands MDGs advocacy in Cambodia
On his visit to Cambodia, Minar Pimple, Deputy Director and Head of Asia, UN Millennium Campaign met Leng Peng Long, Secretary General of the National Assembly to discuss the progress of anti-poverty goals in the country.
On his visit to Cambodia, Minar Pimple, Deputy Director and Head of Asia, UN Millennium Campaign met Leng Peng Long, Secretary General of the National Assembly. Receiving the MDG poster from the Campaign, Peng agreed to encourage active participation of members of the National Assembly in Stand Up 2009 actions.
This meeting was part of series of meetings being held by Pimple during his Cambodia mission. He will also meet Chairs of the Commissions related to MDGs of the National assembly, namely Education, Health and Social Services, Planning and Rural Development etc. to discuss the progress, challenges and recommendations especially the role of the Cambodian Parliament to help achieving the MDGs by 2015 and to explore possibility of relevant role for the Campaign to expand the MDGs advocacy efforts.
